Project Introduction

Project introduction — awaiting text

Created for the exterior of Nice Day Chinese in Bushwick, this site-responsive mural transforms an ordinary restaurant wall into a radiant field of light, color, and movement. Rather than concealing the building’s pipes, air-conditioning units, doors, and other architectural interruptions, Wo Xinyu incorporates them into the composition, allowing the work to grow directly from the character of the site.

Drawing from the visual energy of Bushwick and Wo’s ongoing exploration of light as a shared form of life, the mural offers a contemporary expression of Chinese immigrant culture—one shaped by movement, adaptation, and exchange rather than traditional symbols alone. Situated in the everyday rhythm of the street, the project brings contemporary art outside the gallery and into direct contact with the surrounding community.
